The problem is, while all of the food is delicious, barbeque and all of its accoutrement add up to be a not-so-nutritious splurge. To rectify this, we\u2019re providing you with three recipes that can help you keep the flavor you crave while eliminating the fat and calories you don\u2019t.<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Hawaiian Skewers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.presidentschallenge.org\/newsletter\/articles\/images\/2015-07\/nutritious01a.jpg\" alt=\"Hawaiian Skewers\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1-2 packages of boneless, skinless chicken breasts<\/li>\n<li>2 14oz cans of pineapple chunks<\/li>\n<li>2 sweet onions, any variety<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup Barbeque sauce<\/li>\n<li>Lime juice<\/li>\n<li>Wooden or metal skewers (if you\u2019re using wooden, don\u2019t forget to soak them in cold water!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The beauty of this recipe is that you can make it up to a day in advance. Cut up the chicken and onions into chunks. Place the pieces in a bowl and pour the pineapple chunks, and a quarter of their juice, on top of the chicken and onions. Squeeze barbeque sauce and lime juice (to your liking) on top of ingredients and mix. Arrange the chicken, pineapple, and onion on the skewers. Refrigerate for at least an hour, then grill away!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Greek Yogurt Coleslaw<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.presidentschallenge.org\/newsletter\/articles\/images\/2015-07\/nutritious01b.jpg\" alt=\"Greek Yogurt Coleslaw\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd cup nonfat, plain Greek yogurt<\/li>\n<li>3\u00bd tablespoons cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon kosher salt<\/li>\n<li>\u215b teaspoon black pepper<\/li>\n<li>16 ounces (about 6\u00bc cups) bagged coleslaw blend or shredded cabbage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper and whisk until smooth and thoroughly combined. Place slaw blend\/cabbage in a large bowl and pour Greek yogurt dressing mixture over top. Stir to coat cabbage thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate until using (preferably at least 30 minutes)<\/p>\n<p>Recipe from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twohealthykitchens.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">twohealthykitchens.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Red, White, and Blue Fruit Salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.presidentschallenge.org\/newsletter\/articles\/images\/2015-07\/nutritious01c.jpg\" alt=\"Red, White, and Blue Fruit Salad\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u200b4 cups sliced strawberries<\/li>\n<li>2 cups blueberries<\/li>\n<li>2 cups diced watermelon<\/li>\n<li>1 cup diced jicama (or apple)<\/li>\n<li>1\u00bd tablespoons lime juice<\/li>\n<li>1\u00bd tablespoons honey<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon minced mint<\/li>\n<li>\u215b teaspoon chipotle chili powder (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, and jicama in a large bowl. In a small bowl, stir together lime juice, honey, mint, and chili powder.
